Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) bacteria are a common cause of peptic ulcers (sores in the lining of the stomach, small intestine, or esophagus). In this test, a stool (feces) sample is used to determine if H. pylori antigens are present in your child's gastrointestinal (GI) system.
A positive test only indicates the presence of IgG antibody to H. pylori and does not necessarily indicate that gastrointestinal disease is present. A negative test indicates that IgG antibody to H. pylori is not present or is at a level that cannot be detected by the assay.
A positive test only indicates the presence of IgM antibody to H. pylori and does not necessarily indicate that gastrointestinal disease is present. A negative test indicates that IgM antibody to H. pylori is not present or is at a level that cannot be detected by the assay.
